Two of my new favorite fall shows: Revenge and Up All Night

This season's fall lineup is already incredible: Walking Dead, Boardwalk Empire, Modern Family, Glee (I'm hoping it will pick up after the lack-luster premiere), Dexter, etc. And I think I will add in two more to that list with "Up All Night" and "Revenge" which are coincidentally on the same night but different networks.

Revenge

Think of "The OC" meets "Desperate Housewives" (when it was actually a good show) and you'll get ABC's new hit drama, "Revenge." The show is on Wednesdays at 10:00 PM and the pilot episode was both edgy and intriguing.

The show revolves around Emily Thorne (real name is Amanda) who moves back to the Hamptoms to exact revenge on those who framed her father when she was a little girl. After he died, he left behind a box for Emily that explained what really happened and proves his innocence. It is now Emily's mission to get back every person who harmed her father and the first episode revolves around her father's former secretary, Lydia Davis.

I really like the way that the episode was organized by mixing flashbacks and different characters' perspectives. And the soundtrack is fantastic. I've seen a lot of buzz about the show from other entertainment websites and I think it will a big hit for the fall season. The premiere did win it's timeslot against veteran shows like "CSI" and "Law and Order: SVU."

Up All Night

When I first saw commercials for this show, I wasn't that blown away but I watched the first two episodes and I thought they were hilarious. The show is on Wednesday at 8:00 pm on NBC. Christina Applegate and Will Arnett make a stellar couple trying to learn the ropes of being first-time parents.

Reagan (Applegate) plays a new mother who returns back to work as the producer of a lackluster talk show, Ava, starring Maya Rudolph. This fake talk show is somewhat of a show within a show. Arnett plays Chris who is the stay-at-home dad who struggles to both raise their daughter and complete domestic tasks (like where to buy the "normal" cheese in the grocery store).

Both Reagan and Chris find it hard to cope with the fact that they are no longer the party animals that they once were and Ava (Rudolph) is always trying to get them back in their old ways. Their characters' interactions are always funny.

I think there is a lot of potential in this show and I'm hoping they will keep up the good work and not fall into a stereotypical "first-time clueless parents" show.
