Restaurant Review: Policy

There's nothing I love more on a Sunday then a good ol' American brunch. I had a LivingSocial deal at Policy and yesterday's beautiful weather convinced me to go rather than wait till it's close to expiring like I usually do.

Despite the aroma of last night's bar crowd filling my senses, the restaurant's decor is funky and different. Their limited brunch menu consists of small plates like tapas and a few sides dishes. The restaurant makes up for their meager menu with food that is both delicious and filling. I ordered the bacon, egg and cheese sliders with melted brie and truffle mayo and my boyfriend picked the crab and eggs benedict. Knowing that our plates wouldn't be a full brunch meal, we decided to order asiago cheesy grits. Those grits may have been the highlight of our meal (and that's saying a lot because the food was fantastic). If you decide to come here (or if you have the LivingSocial deal) you must order the grits!

In a nutshell, the food is great and the service was excellent. But I would only recommend doing brunch at Policy for a special occasion. It's a pretty expensive for the amount of food you get. We also ordered two coffees and our mouths dropped when we saw the $5 price tag for each. Plus, the menu isn't as extensive as I've seen at other places in the District.

Check out the brunch menu and their full menu here.
