Rihanna released her sixth studio album today and I had a chance to listen to it all the way through. Most people have already heard "We Found Love" (it's still stuck in my head) but I also gave you guys a sneak peek of the album with the second single "You Da One."
Lately, Rihanna has been an unstoppable force in the music world. It seems like every song she releases and every collaboration she does becomes a number one hit. It's no wonder a wide range of artists from Coldplay to Kanye West are eager to work with her. The girl can do no wrong but unfortunately this album is overall pretty lackluster after her Rihanna's previous powerhouse album Loud. It's not a bad album, but just not the Rihanna that got even guys singing "Want you to make me feel like I'm the only girl in the world!"
I think she needs to go the Britney route and release an entire dance album...preferably produced by Calvin Harris since the two songs he produced on the album are fantastic!
Here are some tracks you should listen to, so you can save yourself the trouble of listening to the other dull songs.:
1. Where Have You Been - A Calvin Harris produced song. My favorite song on the album (besides "We Found Love"). The beat is infectious and I hope this is the third single off the album. It's a great mix of dance and electronic which I've been really enjoying lately.
2. Drunk On Love - It's a bit slower than the other songs I like on the album but her voice sounds great. It's a sultry song that you would expect from Rihanna."Take me awayyyyy...."
3. Watch N' Learn - A song that brings Rihanna back to her island roots (and her earlier hits). The chorus is very catchy.
4. Talk That Talk - The title track featuring Jay-Z. It's a good song...I could see it being a single. But it's not the best on the album though but definitely worth a listen.
5. Cockiness (Love It) - Just listen to the song yourself. Seriously.
What are your thoughts on the new album? Love it? Hate it? Not as good as Loud?
