Smucker Farms of Lancaster County

Smucker Farms of Lancaster County is a local business in DC that brings fresh produce, milk, and meat from Lancaster County, PA to the city. I had a chance to stop by after eagerly waiting weeks for the place to open and I bought apples, honey, and pork kielbasa for my crockpot recipe. The kielbasa was absolutely delicious - full of flavor and tasted very fresh and unprocessed.

I think it's a great business that deserves more attention. The owner was very friendly and helpful. He even told us that they are struggling to keep up with the demand of their customers (not that he's complaining!).  Eventually they hope to become a full-service grocery store but right now they only have a limited amount of goods like grass-fed beef, fresh vegetables and fruit, and European style cheeses.

If you live in the area - definitely stop by! It feels good to help a local business and the people who work there are knowledgable and welcoming. They also had a meat and cheese tasting on Saturday. I didn't have enough time to stop by myself but I'm sure they will have more sampling events soon.
