Most-wanted beauty products

Superlatives are the domain of 14-year-old girls and...well, maybe just them. Which is why it was with mild embarrassment that we found ourselves surrounded by a handful of products that could only be described as the Coolest! Things! Ever!

So there you have it. That alone is the unifying thread on these pages: The ability of these nail polishes, tools, and fragrances to make us actually say, out loud and in the presence of others, Oh. Em. Gee.

CHANEL NAIL POLISHES IN ALCHIMIE AND MYSTERIOUS

Every so often, Chanel comes out with a nail polish so gorgeous, it shows up on eBay a few months later for three times the price. Consider this your heads-up times two: a shimmery metallic olive and deeply sexy gray-brown.

Limited Edition Chanel nail color- $27 each; chanel.com

GIVENCHY LE ROUGE IN ROUGE D'EXCEPTION

The most perfectly neutral lip color. But who are we kidding? We love it as much for its chic metallic tube.

E.L.F. NAIL CUBE

With gold, glitter, magenta, and one very neutral pink-y beige, this 14-piece, $14 nail-polish collection satisfies every conceivable manicure and pedicure craving—and every tax bracket.

M.A.C. ANTONIO LOPEZ LIP COMPACT IN FUCHSIA

When M.A.C. launches a new limited-edition collection, people go out of their minds trying to snatch it all up. This is the company's next hit: a line celebrating the '70s fashion illustrator with colors as bold as the creatures he drew.

Hitting stores September 12th. Prices starting at $25 to $66.

MARC JACOBS HONEY

Marc Jacobs manages to turn every scent into lightning in a bottle. And his newest creation is no exception: a young, sunny floral fragrance in an are-you-kidding-me-cute bottle.

Marc Jacobs Honey 1.7 Eau de Parfum spray, $72; Available at Sephora.com

NARS EYE PAINTS

Van Gogh painted with oils; Takashi Murakami uses acrylics. We'll be reaching for these gel-cream shadows, which are truly the softest—but also the most durable—we've ever smudged on our lids. Available at Sephora on September 15th.

ESTÉE LAUDER MODERN MUSE

The bottle is so striking, and the jasmine and woody scent is so pretty, we might actually be looking at the best new fragrance of the year—and it's only August. But you'll have to wait until September when it is released to consumers!

GUERLAIN KHÔL ME KAJAL

The blackest of black kohl liners in a tube so artful and elegant, we feel sexy and exotic just sweeping it on.

Guerlain Khol Kajal is available on Yahoo! Shopping starting at $37.

HOURGLASS NO. 28 LIP TREATMENT OIL

With vitamins, anti-aging ingredients, and 14 essential oils—and a 24-karat-gold-plated applicator—the whole package feels and looks a million times sexier than a waxy stick.

Hourglass Lip Treatment Oil is available at Sephora for $42.

CIRE TRUDON IMPERIAL PILLAR CANDLE

It's gorgeous, almost a foot tall, and looks like something an Italian contessa would have in her palazzo. This is a limited edition candle to commemorate a private commission for Napoleon's son christening where Cire Trudon created pillar candles with gold coins embedded into the wax. Scented with Titio (burning wood), this candle burns up to 130 hours.

Cire Trudon candle is available at luckyscent.com for $110.

DIPTYQUE HOURGLASS DIFFUSER IN BAIES

No matter how beautiful a room diffuser is, at the end of the day, you're still looking at a bouquet of sticks. Diptyque reinvented the whole idea with this little piece of glass sculpture: The berry and rose essences are released by turning it over.

Baies Hourglass Diffuser, 2.5 oz., $145; neimanmarcus.com

RODIN OLIO LUSSO FACIAL CLEANSING POWDER

Sprinkle in your palm, add a dash of water, massage until it becomes a silky lather, and—voilà!—the most mundane task you perform all day is suddenly much more fun.

SEPHORA COLLECTION DROP DEAD GORGEOUS BRUSH SET

Five high-quality makeup brushes in one killer case—or should we say, cool clutch?

Drop Dead Gorgeous Brush Set available now at Sephora.com; $58. (A $155 value!)

TOM FORD BEAUTY PRIVATE BLEND ATELIER D'ORIENT COLLECTION

Tom Ford took an Asian odyssey and brought back the best scents of the continent. Chinese cedarwood, japonica flower, sawara cypress, and hinoki wood: This is what Asia smells like through one of our favorite designer's filters.

Tom Ford Atelier D'Orient Collection; 1.7 ounce bottles, $210 each, 8.4 oz are $520 each.

SHU UEMURA TOKYO FLASH FIESTA EYELASH CURLER

The company took its famous eyelash curler and did the unthinkable: They made it better. This new one has no edges, which means there's no risk of pinched lids.
