La Cage Aux Folles

On Saturday, I had the pleasure of going to the Kennedy Center to see the three-time Tony winning musical "La Cage Aux Folles". It was a blast. This is a great musical for everyone - well, maybe not little children or staunch conservatives because the dialogue and performances were a bit risque.

Here is a brief synopsis: Georges is an owner of a drag queen club called La Cage Aux Folles where his boyfriend, Albin aka Zaza, is the star. They live together in a house above the club. One day, Georges' son Jean-Michel stops by and informs his father that he is engaged to the daughter of a conservative politician and they are visiting to meet the family. Georges and Albin must pretend to have a normal family to impress their guests and hilarity ensues.

The show was hilarious. The audience was laughing the entire time, even my boyfriend. Before the show even started, a drag queen came on stage and proceeded to do a little stand-up comedy. Georges was played by the legend George Hamilton. Albin was played by Christopher Sieber who was the dad in the Olsen twins' 90s show "Two of a Kind" which I found really mind boggling but he definitely stole the show!

The show is only in DC till Feb. 12th so get your tickets asap before it's gone! I promise you won't be disappointed.
